Topps is venturing Down Under to produce its next brand of basketball cards under Fanatics Collectibles.
The company announced that it has signed its first multi-year agreement with the National Basketball League (NBL), the premier professional league in Australia and New Zealand.
The deal marks Topps’ first exclusive trading card partnership with NBL as the company continues its international expansion.
Starting in the fourth quarter of 2022, Topps will launch several NBL products, beginning with Topps NOW cards, which will feature the league’s 10 teams and star players, like Bryce Cotton, Chris Goulding, Aron Baynes, Xavier Cooks and more.
Available in select retail locations and at Topps.com, the cards will also feature exclusive autographs and game-worn memorabilia.
“We are thrilled to be teaming up with the National Basketball League as their exclusive trading card partner and to expand our portfolio of basketball cards on an international level,” said David Leiner, Topps’ global general manager, and entertainment. “As we continue to celebrate Topps’ rich heritage in trading cards, this agreement marks another milestone moment for the company and showcases our dedication to delivering innovative, new products to basketball fans and collectors around the world, as well as spotlighting some of the world’s greatest athletes and players.”
“As a leading men’s basketball league for over 40 years, we’re honored to finally be able to highlight our talent and the groundbreaking moments that make our league so unique through our new partnership with Topps,” said Brad Joyner, chief commercial officer of the NBL. “We are confident that this agreement will increase our fan base and the overall awareness of NBL, while recognizing our incredibly talented and dedicated players on a global stage.”
