MBA launching raw card authentication service at National
Mike Baker Authenticated (MBA), which provides a quality review certification service for high-end graded trading cards, is bringing its expertise to the raw card market.
MBA is owned by longtime authentication and card-grading experts Mike Baker and Demian Werner.
The new MBA service provides a professional review and authentication of raw, ungraded cards for collectors. All raw cards submitted to the service are reviewed by the MBA team and, if certified as authentic, are identified by title, serial numbered, placed in a custom top loader, and sealed with a tamper-proof label.
Each authenticated card also receives a custom CardFax report detailing any meaningful wear and manufacturing defects.
“A need exists in the market for a streamlined process to confidently verify a trading card’s authenticity,” said Mike Baker, director of grading of MBA. “We have the technology and expertise in place at MBA to not only review card condition and quality but guarantee card authenticity.
“This service comes not with a technical grade, but rather a detailed report noting specific instances of damage or defects. MBA is providing a transparent review of trading cards that gives clients the peace of mind that they are trading in authentic assets.”
MBA is launching the new service at the National Sports Collectors Convention in Atlantic City with PWCC Marketplace as a vaulting and marketplace partner. MBA will be authenticating cards at The National for $6 per card.
The partnership provides clients with the ability to store their assets in their PWCC Vault account or trade it on one of PWCC’s multiple marketplaces, including the Premier Auction, Weekly Auction and Fixed Price Marketplace.
Authenticated raw cards can also be used as collateral in PWCC’s capital program for advances and loans.
“We will be accepting raw card submissions through PWCC at booths #2240 and #420 at The National,” Baker said. “PWCC is offering clients a streamlined process on a powerful platform. It is an elegant online portfolio that brings observability and transparency to the management of assets along with utility and security.
“We’re extremely excited about the new liquidity and capabilities we’re providing to the hobby with this service.”
PWCC also recently formed a partnership with Beckett Collectibles to help with the initial grading and selling of raw cards.
