Mendiola given Lifetime Achievement Award by CSA
Tony Mendiola has been presented the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award by Collectors’ Showcase of America (CSA). The prestigious honor was presented March 26 at CSA’s Show at Chantilly, held in Chantilly, Va.
Mendiola is the founder and CEO of Mendy’s Baseball Memorabilia, a Gaithersburg, Md.-based online store that specializes in quality baseball memorabilia, magazines, programs and more. Mendiola has been in the baseball memorabilia business since 1990.
“The honor is very special to me since it comes from Marco Rol's organization (CSA), who I hold in high regard, and originates from recognition by my fellow dealers,” says Mendiola. “I expect most dealers don't get up in the morning with the goal of winning an award like this, but instead work to be the best in a business they love.”
Collectors’ Showcase of America, which promotes trade shows and exhibitions for sports memorabilia collectors, bestows the Lifetime Achievement Award annually to dealers who exhibit a high degree of honesty, courtesy, reliability, experience, and loyalty within the sports collectibles business. CSA has presented the award annually since 2007 at its Chantilly Show.
“Tony represents the things that make the hobby great,” said CSA president Marco Rol. “He is dedicated, personable, and represents the highest level of ethics and professionalism. We at CSA, our customers, and other dealers in the business are impressed by the long-time commitment Tony and all of our honorees have made to the world of sports collectibles—and that is what makes them Lifetime Achievers,” says CSA president Marco Rol.
The next Chantilly Show will be July 9, 10, and 11 at the Dulles Expo Center. Giants and Redskins star Sam Huff and Super Bowl XL MVP Hines Ward, NFL Hall of Famers Earl Campbell, Bud Grant, John Hannah, Willie Lanier, Marv Levy, Billy Shaw, Rickey Jackson, Floyd Little, Raymond Berry, Art Donovan, Gino Marchetti, Lenny Moore, and Bobby Mitchell are scheduled to appear. Players from the Miami Dolphins’ Perfect Season Reunion, Part 2, Nick Buoniconti, Larry Csonka, Marv Fleming, Paul Warfield, Garo Yepremian and Harlem Globetrotters' legend Curly Neal will also be signing autographs.
