The Chantilly Show fall finale to feature impressive autograph lineup
The Chantilly Show is near Dulles Airport, about a half-hour from Washington, D.C., but one dealer who set up at the Virginia show this summer came all the way from Dallas.
Texas dealer Rick Haskins of Rick Haskins Pennants will be at the show at The Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Va. Oct 22-24. This summer Haskins set up for the third time at Chantilly and is returning for a few reasons: “strong sales, lots of people, and it’s a very well-run show.”
Haskins said there is a great deal of interest in pennants within the hobby. The former computer programmer found his niche with the banners decades ago, partly due to their variety.
“They are part of Americana,” he said.

Pennants of professional teams, both current and past, that sold well at the summer Chantilly show include: the Baltimore Orioles, Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, and the Washington Senators and Redskins.
Count artist Andy Friedman among the vendors returning for the October show. The artist has produced several images — his versions of famous and not-so-famous Topps baseball cards — in collaboration with Topps for its “Spotlight 70” series.
“One of the things that’s been great at Chantilly is talking with collectors,” Friedman said. And, if they buy one of his creations, “they are adding a new item to their collection that is something quite different.”
Coverage of the summer Chantilly show would almost seem incomplete without input from longtime, popular dealer Chandy Greenholt.
“This is as good a crowd as I’ve ever seen here,” he said on the final day of the summer show. “Sunday has been awesome and I’ve been selling a little bit of every kind of item.” He will return as well for the fall finale.
The October show, which will include about 300 dealer and vendor tables, is sponsored by such hobby companies as Beckett, Robert Edward Auctions, Pristine Auctions and whatnot.
It also features an impressive lineup of autograph signers.
They include: NBA legends Dr. J Julius Erving, Hakeem Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler, Dave Bing, Robert Parish and Ralph Sampson; boxing legends Mike Tyson, Buster Douglas, Michael Spinks and Larry Holmes; former Baltimore Ravens stars Ray Lewis, Ozzie Newsome and Jonathan Ogden; and Notre Dame legends Joe Montana, Joe Theismann, Jerome Bettis, Lou Holtz and Rudy Ruettiger.
