Olympics-related collectibles have seen an uptick in appearances in the auction market, often with high prices associated with their sales. Lelands has seen the same thing, and the company announced it has opened an Olympic division within the company, headed by Greg Gallacher.

Greg Gallacher

Gallacher is a long-time, serious Olympic collector, having caught the bug while attending the 1972 Munich Games and the 1980 Games in Lake Placid. Gallacher is the co-author of the book The Unauthorized Guide to Olympic Pins and Memorabilia (Schiffer, 2002) and is on the board of directors for the Lake Placid Olympic Museum.

On a related note, Lelands has announced it will offer memorabilia related to Jim Craig and the 1980 Miracle on Ice team in a June sale. Items include the iconic American flag Craig draped on his shoulders, his gold medal, goalie mask and jersey, among other items.
