A book that recently came across my desk is the second edition of Mike Egner’s baseball pennant price guide, titled Vintage Pennant Price Guide II (Baseball & Football Edition). The guide, which covers pennants from the 1900s through the 1970s, has expanded to 348 pages.
A photo accompanies every one of the more than 2,200 pennants listed, which you can’t beat for identification purposes. The framework of the book is easy to follow, and you can easily jump to the team you are looking for. Listings also include production dates, rarity and values for pennants in Excellent condition. On top of that, you will learn about pennants that were fraudulently produced.
Even if you don’t have any pennants in your collection, this is a great book to page through to see some of the interesting artwork and styles of pennants from the past. I knew some of these were expensive, but the values for some of the more rare examples is downright impressive. A really fun read, from front to back.
The book retails for $19.99, plus $4 shipping, through firstname.lastname@example.org, or payment sent to: Mike Egner, P.O. Box 184, Kuna, ID 83634. Kindle editions are available. The book is also available for IPad, IPhone and other mobile devices. Click here.
