Christian McCaffrey football cards see growing interest
PANTHER ON THE PROWL — Is there a more productive skill-position player in the NFL than Christian McCaffrey? That’s a rhetorical question, of course; his stats tell the story. Through 13 weeks, the Carolina all-purpose back had 1,307 rushing yards and 94 catches for 814 more yards, with 18 total TDs. Those lofty numbers come on the heels of his 2018 season when he accounted for 1,098 rushing yards, 107 catches, 867 receiving yards and 13 total TDs. And keep in mind that the third-year pro is only 23.
The memorabilia market hasn’t quite caught up to McCaffrey, but recent auctions and sales on eBay reflect growing interest:
• A Mint-condition 2017 Panini Contenders signed Rookie Ticket Cracked Ice card (#15 of 25) sold for $1,385 on 52 bids. It was graded PSA 10. An ungraded example of the same card (#23/25) brought $510 on 14 bids.
• A 2017 autographed National Treasures Stars & Stripes card, one of 13 made, sold for $1,226 on 41 bids. It was graded PSA 9.
• A 2017 signed Panini Elite Series Optic gold vinyl autographed card sold for $960. A 1-of-1, it was graded 9.5 by BGS.
