RUTH SIGNED ITEMS HIGHLIGHT EAC GALLERY NOVEMBER A
The EAC Gallery November Premium Catalog Auction is underway. This is the first EAC Gallery auction conducted out of its new location in the fully renovated Esposito Building, located in the heart of Nassau County, Long Island. The auction is highlighted by The Ben Benson Presidential Collection in its entirety. Benson was an avid autograph collector for over 40 years. He is also a noted artist, renowned for his realistic portraits. Each of his custom-framed Presidential collectibles is accompanied by one of his original hand-painted portraits.
The 449-lot auction also features plenty of sports related autographed items, with the highlight being a Babe Ruth autographed W. Harridge Official AL ball (minimum bid $3,000) and a Ruth signed 8-by-10 inch photo ($1,000). Collectors of New York Yankees autographs will also be interested in a 31/4-by-41/2 inch photo ($2,200) signed twice by Lou Gerhig, once in pencil and again in ink.
Other featured sports items of note include a 1938 World Champion N.Y. Yankees team autographed W. Harridge Official AL ball ($1,000) signed by Selkirk, Chandler, Gordon, Knickerbocker, Hoag, Hadley, Powell, Jorgens and Lou Gerhig alone on the sweet spot; Roberto Clemente autographed C. Feeney Official NL ball ($1,500); Ty Cobb autographed letter ($1,400). These all include certification from PSA/DNA.
There are more than 40 additional lots of signed baseballs, including Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Satchel Paige, Roger Maris, Hank Greenberg, James “Cool Papa” Bell, Cal Ripken Jr. and Mark McGwire. For collectors who would rather have a signed letter or document from a player, there are also plenty of auction lots of those. These include signed letters or documents from Babe Ruth, Zack Wheat, Earl Combs, Joe McCarthy, Soe Sewell, Waite Hoyt, Lefty Gomez, Bill Dickey, Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Ford Frick, Warren Giles, Bill Veeck and A.B. Chandler.
Rounding out the sports portion of the auction are assorted autographed photos of Derek Jeter, Ted Williams, Alex Rodriguez, Dave Winfield and Sandy Koufax to just name a few.
