F+W Publications has added to its online offerings by purchasing UpcomingCardShows.com, a website that has been extremely popular with autograph collectors thanks to its listing of upcoming signings. The name of the site will be updated to SCDShows.com, and be promoted as an online component to the popular listing of card shows that are a part of each issue of Sports Collectors Digest.
"We are happy to continue to build on the success Andy Richards had as the prior owner of the site," said Jeff Pozorski, sports group publisher for F+W. "The SCDshows.com website will be the most current, comprehensive and up-to-date sports collectibles show resource available and is a natural extension of what we offer through the pages of SCD."
The site features show listings that are searchable by state. In addition, collectors can find listings for every athlete who is signing autographs at an upcoming show. There is no charge for consumers to use the site, although a premium level of services is available with free registration.
Show promoters can have their events listed on the site for no charge, but higher-profile advertising and sponsorship opportunities are also available. Promoters are invited to contact their SCD ad representative for more information.
The addition of SCDshows.com comes on the heels of recent redesigns of SportsCollectorsDigest.com and TuffStuff.com, providing collectors of vintage material, new cards - and now, card show attendees and exhibitors - specific online resources catering to their collecting interests. "We'll continue to be aggressive in offering online content that is valued by hobbyists," Pozorski said.
