Mile High Kicks Off Elite Auction With PSA 9 Aaron Rookie

Mile High Card Co. kicks off Elite Auction with a PSA 9 Hank Aaron rookie that is joined by Gem Mint singles and Registry sets.

Mile High Card Co. presented its strongest auction of the season to close out 2015, and now the auction house is ready to ring in the new year with a truly astounding January Elite Auction, which runs from Jan. 4-21 at

Limited to slightly more than 700 lots, this event brings a lot of firepower with cards and sets that haven’t been offered for public sale in years, if not decades.

“As we’ve done in the past, we’ve kept the number of lots down while raising the quality to new heights of excellence,” said MHCC President and CEO Brian Drent.

The auction opens with a PSA 9 Mint example of a 1954 Topps #128 Henry Aaron rookie card that was graded just within the past few weeks.

If Mint specimens are your preference, then you’ll also be interested in a 1933 Goudey #92 Lou Gehrig, 1915 Cracker Jack #57 Walter Johnson, 1952 Bowman #101 Mickey Mantle and 1957 Topps #328 Brooks Robinson rookie that are all graded at that level.

But it wouldn’t be a Mile High auction without a nice selection of Gem Mint cards, which includes a 1957 Topps #212 Rocco Colavito PSA 10, the one and only 1962 Topps #218 Joe Torre PSA 10, the one and only 1970 Topps #140 Reggie Jackson PSA 10 and a 1980 Topps #482 Rickey Henderson PSA 10.

PSA Set Registry collections will also dominate the event, including the break-up of the No. 1-ranked 1950 Bowman football set, featuring a #1 Doak Walker PSA 8 NM/MT, #45 Otto Graham PSA 9 Mint and the only #144 Knox Ramsey graded PSA 10.

Also available in individual lots is the No. 3-rated 1955 Topps All-American football set with #37 Jim Thorpe PSA 9 and #68 The Four Horsemen PSA 9.

Other top sets include a 1958 Hires Root Beer with tabs complete set, No. 2 on the PSA Set Registry; 1939 R303-B Goudey Premiums complete set, No. 1 finest on PSA Set Registry; 1956 Topps Pins complete set, No. 1-ranked set on PSA Set Registry; 1954 Bowman Football complete set, No. 3 on the PSA Set Registry with 9.59 set rating; and a 1967 Topps Football complete set that resides at No. 5 on the Registry.

Not to be outdone, a 1959 Fleer Three Stooges complete set that is all PSA-graded with 8.484 set rating will also be included, along with partially graded or ungraded complete and near complete sets that include two 1933 Goudey collections and a 1952 Topps set missing only the Mantle.

Other key items include a 1915 Cracker Jack #88 Christy Mathewson NM/MT+, 1915 Cracker Jack #103 Joe Jackson PSA 8 (OC), 1948 Leaf #1 Joe DiMaggio NM/MT, 1954 Bowman #66 Ted Williams NM/MT, 1954 Topps #128 Henry Aaron PSA 8, 1909-11 Sweet Caporal 350 T206 Ty Cobb Bat Off Shoulder NM/MT and a 1954 NY Journal-American Mickey Mantle PSA 9.
