Goldin Auctions’ October Legends Auction is loaded with historic items

The 2017 Goldin Auctions October Legends Auction features more than 1,800 lots of unique sports, entertainment and historic memorabilia.

The annual October event offers many immortal players who shined brightest during the Fall Classic. Mantle collectors can bid upon: “The Mick’s” 1959 game-worn jersey; his 1957 Yankees player contract; a 1966 game-used bat; or five different versions of his 1952 Topps and 1951 Bowman trading cards.

Not do be outdone, Babe Ruth collectors can bid upon: the finest version of the only known photography of Babe and his father; a signed and inscribed bat dated 1935; an autographed baseball signed on the sweet spot; more than a dozen trading cards and photographs; and much more.

Additionally, the auction includes: personal collections from Rusty Staub, Casey Stengel and Knute Rockne; game-used bats from Mel Ott, Roberto Clemente, Carlos Correa and Miguel Cabrera; championship rings and trophies such as Kenny King’s 1983 Raiders Super Bowl Ring and Weeb Ewbank’s Super Bowl III Trophy.

• 1917 Chicago White Sox world championship historic game ball featuring 25 signatures from players, coaches and umpires including; Joe Jackson, Eddie Collins and the ‘Eight Men Out.’ Comes with LOA from PSA/DNA for the signatures and MEARS for game use.

• 1898 Cap Anson Silver Presentation Bat that was awarded to Anson by the students at Notre Dame University four months after he retired. The sterling silver bat is inscribed on the barrel: “Presented to Adrian C. Anson by the Students of Notre Dame University as a testimony of their pride in him as one of the earliest and greatest athletes of their Alma Mater, February twenty second Eighteen Hundred and Ninety Eight.”

• Finest known extremely rare 1915 Babe Ruth & father original Type 1 photograph in their Baltimore tavern. Lot #5 - 1939 All-Star Games Team Signed Baseball - Features 29 signatures including Lou Gehrig from his final ASG appearance. Other Hall of Fame signers include Walter Johnson, Tris Speaker, Jimmie Foxx, Hank Greenberg, Joe Cronin, Bob Feller, Lefty Gomez, Mel Ott and more.

• A 1959 Mickey Mantle game used, signed and photo matched Yankees home jersey. It comes with authentication from Mears and Sports Investors and LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication. It has been photo matched by Resolution Photo-matching to an April 12, 1960 image, along with an August 17, 1959 image and a 1960 Topps Mickey Mantle Sport Magazine 1960 ALL-STAR SELECTION card.

• A 1960 Floyd Patterson original Ring Magazine Heavyweight Championship Belt

• A 1967 Frank Robinson game used and signed Orioles road jersey. Robinson has added his signature to the front of the jersey. This jersey comes with an LOA from Mears for the game use and has been graded an A 6.5. There are also additional LOAs from JSA and PSA/DNA for the signature.

• 1976 Muhammad Ali fight worn Robe vs. Ken Norton at Yankee Stadium. The robe is a full, calf length white crushed velvet with satin trim. The back features 3-inch tall purple block letters with “MUHAMMAD” arched above “ALI.” The front has two waist pockets with white satin trim on the top edges and a left breast pocket trimmed in white satin with an EVERLAST label bearing the notation “MADE EXPRESSLY FOR MUHAMMAD ALI.” The robe comes with an LOA from noted boxing expert Craig R. Hamilton and WBC Authentication.
