In this hobby, there are a few landmark auctions held throughout the year that deserve special attention. The live auctions held during the National Convention are a must-see, as is the auction held during MLB'a All-Star weekend. Another is the Summer Games event host by Grey Flannel Auctions, where the sheer number and star quality game-used jerseys presented is mind-boggling.

The Summer Games auction is now live at www.greyflannel.com, ending June 24.
Leading off the event is a 1961-62 Wilt Chamberlain Philadelphia Warriors game-used uniform, from the season of his 100-point performance and a 50.4 points-per-game average. Bidding opened at $10,000.

Lot No. 2 features another all-time great NBA center, this one hailing from the Boston Celtics. Grey Flannel will feature an early 1960s Bill Russell Boston Celtics road game-used jersey with “Boston” across the front. Grey Flannel’s auction description states, “To our knowledge, this is the first “Boston” green road jersey available for public sale, and is one of only two known. The other one has been in a private collection for over 30 years.”

More basketball royalty is represented through game-used jerseys, including the following:
– 1973-74 Oscar Robertson Milwaukee Bucks worn warm-up jacket with “O” on the back.
– 1972-73 Rick Barry Golden State Warriors game-used home jersey.
– 1980-81 Elvin Hayes Baltimore Bullets game-used and signed home jersey.
– 1989-90 Drazen Petrovic Portland Trailblazers worn shooting shirt and warm-up pants from rookie season.
– 1991-92 Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls game-used road jersey.
– 1975-76 Julius Erving ABA N.Y. Nets game-used home jersey.
– 1985 Ralph Sampson NBA All-Star game-used Western Conference jersey.

The basketball relics don’t stop at jerseys, with Grey Flannel also offering Stephen Riley’s 1981 Boston Celtics championship ring, Steve Schanwald’s 1997 Chicago Bulls championship ring (prototype), John Clawson’s ABA Oakland Oaks championship ring and a pair of Jordan worn shoes from North Carolina and the 1984 Olympics, respectively.

Football
The football category is led by a circa 1960 Johnny Unitas Baltimore Colts game-used and signed home uniform.

The Unitas uniform will be joined by jerseys of fellow quarterbacks including Joe Namath’s circa 1966 N.Y. Jets game-used road jersey, Peyton Manning’s Dec. 22, 2014, Denver Broncos game-used and signed road jersey and Eli Manning’s Oct. 4, 2009, N.Y. Giants game-used road jersey.

Also look for Keith Kartz’s 1989 Denver Broncos AFC championship ring and Ben Coates’ 2000 Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl XXXV world championship ring.
