Derek Jeter’s first Yankees jersey sets modern record
The first jersey Derek Jeter ever wore as a New York Yankee—a road jersey—fetched a record price for a jersey of a modern-day player: $369,000.
The jersey, photo-matched and signed, was auctioned by Goldin Auctions in its 2020 Winter Auction on Saturday night.
It surpassed the previous high of $365,000 for a Mike Piazza post-911 home run jersey.
Also in the auction, a 1994 Derek Jeter game-used Columbus Clippers home jersey fetched $161,130, which was the most ever paid for a baseball minor league jersey.
It was photo-matched to his August 1, 1994 Triple-A debut and first Triple-A hit.
