Rose Banishment Papers, Cobb Bat, Alomar Gold Glove Award, 1934 Yankees Ball Featured in Goldin Auction

The most anticipated lot Goldin Auctions is offering is the original Pete Rose Banishment Document issued by the Office of the Commission Baseball on August 23, 1989.

The five-page document officially ended a six-month investigation by the Office of the Commissioner as to allegations that Rose bet on baseball while the manager of the Cincinnati Reds. The historic document, which was Rose’s personal copy, is signed by Rose, his attorney Rueven J. Katz, Commissioner A. Bartlett Giamatti and Deputy Commissioner Fay Vincent. The document comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Rose saying that this was his personal copy as well as full PSA/DNA LOA.

“The banishment of Pete Rose from baseball is one of the most significant events in baseball in the past 50 years, making this among the most important document in baseball history not just because if it’s significance but because it is the only known document signed by Rose, Giamatti and Vincent – the three key figures in the decision that has left baseball’s Hit King and one of the most popular players in baseball history exiled from the game for more than 23 years,” explains Goldin. “We know there are many baseball historians, collectors and Rose fans in Philadelphia, Cincinnati and around the world that will need to have this original document in their collections.”

Abraham Lincoln Signed Document – Large document appointing a Union officer to 2nd lieutenant. Impressive crest with a large eagle and the title “President of the United States of America.” Bottom of the document features an ornate illustration of the original flags of the Colonies. Bold fountain pen signature.

1977 Roger Staubach Game-Used Jersey – Probably the finest Staubach game used jersey ever offered at auction and from a Super Bowl season to boot. Graded “A10” from Mears.

1908-10 Ty Cobb Game-Used Bat – Extremely rare bat used by Ty Cobb. Manufacturers stamping dates it to 1908-1910, early in Cobb's career.

2001 Roberto Alomar Gold Glove -- Presented by Rawlings to Alomar for his defensive excellence during the 2001 season. A metal plaque in the center features an engraved illustration of Alomar and the plaque below that reads "2001 Rawlings Gold Glove Award Presented to Roberto Alomar Honoring His Selection As "The Finest in the Field!". Shows no wear, beautiful condition.

1999 St. Louis Rams Super Bowl Trophy - The 16-inch trophy features a raised NFL logo on the front of the base. It is engraved, "VINCE LOMBARDI TROPHY," above the logo and "SUPER BOWL XXXIV CHAMPIONS - THE ST. LOUIS RAMS" below. The left panel of the base bears the limited edition number, "332 of 400." Near Mint to Mint Condition and comes with its original presentation box which has a gold-embossed Rams logo on the lid.

1995-96 Michael Jordan Game Worn Jersey. Championship Season Mears ‘A10’ - The front tail features a Champion size 46 tag as well as a Chicago Bulls Exclusive tag with "Body Length +3" tag. The word "Bulls" and number "23" are in tackle twill on the front. Jordan's name is featured in tackle twill on the back along with his number "23". The number "2" on the back is signed in mint black sharpie by Jordan. Full LOA and worksheet from Mears with the iron clad grade of "A 10".

Bernie Parent Game-Worn Mask ‘Winter Classic’ - Custom-made mask is an exact replica of the mask that Bernie used during his playing career. Flyers decals have been affixed to the left and right sides. Vintage style headgear attached to the back.
