Resolution Photomatching creates expert advisory board for memorabilia authentication services
Resolution Photomatching has strengthened its presence as one of the top sports memorabilia authentication companies in the hobby by creating a star-studded advisory board of some of the top high-end collectors and experts in the hobby.
The Resolution Photomatching Advisory Board will be led by Founding Advisors Marshall Fogel and Mike Heffner.
Members of the board will serve as impartial advocates for the best interest of the hobby and individual collectors. According to Resolution Founder John Robinson, the board will consult the company on all new ideas, process changes, research modifications, and potential new business.
“I want Resolution to always be for the hobby and be the best photomatching company because we’re for the hobby,” Robinson said. “Financials matter, but I want serving our clients and serving the hobby to always be priority number one. I believe our research process and our standards both directly speak to that, and now you can add the Resolution Advisory Board to that list. The biggest and most respected names in the industry believe in us enough to put their names with ours (for no compensation), and that really makes me grateful and proud of Resolution.”
Heffner, a noted game-used memorabilia collector who spent more than 30 years at Lelands Auctions, calls Resolution “the leading company in the field of photomatching.”
“Their attention to detail, unwavering ethics, and professionalism is second to none,” he said. “I look forward to helping Resolution continue to improve an already superior service and product and am honored that they asked me to help guide them into the future of the photomatching industry.”
Fogel, who owns one of the largest and most extensive sports memorabilia collections in the world, calls Resolution “the gold standard when it comes to photomatching.”
“Their meticulous attention to detail, deep expertise, and unwavering commitment to accuracy sets them apart from the rest. Collectors and industry professionals should trust their work because they operate with the highest level of integrity, which is an invaluable trait in this field,” Fogel said. “Resolution doesn’t just authenticate game-used items; they provide rock-solid proof that adds undeniable value to each piece they examine.”
Fogel, who owns an extensive Mickey Mantle collection, including one of just three PSA 10 examples of Mantle’s iconic 1952 Topps card, knows Resolution’s expertise first-hand. It provided the authentication on one of Fogel’s prized Mantle jerseys.
“It had been on display in Mantle's restaurant for years, but I didn't know until they ResMatched it to how many times Mantle wore the uniform,” Fogel said. “Resolution's findings made the uniform much more desirable and valuable.”
Fogel is one of the most respected high-end collectors in the hobby, with pieces from his legendary collection being displayed in multiple museums, including the Baseball Hall of Fame and the New York Yankees Museum. An attorney, historian and author, he owns more than 200 game-used bats, primarily from Hall of Famers. He also owns an extensive game-used jersey collection and one of the most valuable card collections in the world.
Heffner, who has been in the hobby for more than 40 years, is one of the industry’s most respected advisors. He also has an extensive collection of high-end jerseys spanning multiple sports and decades.
Other Advisory Board members include:
Thomas Warman
A prolific collector of game-used memorabilia, Warman was one of Resolution’s first clients and an early advocate. With one of the most prominent collections of Chicago Cubs game-used memorabilia, he works closely with the Chicago Cubs Archives department and has a number of his pieces on display at Wrigley Field.
Anthony Polit
Another long-time client, Polit collects memorabilia from pre-war Hall of Famers, including perhaps the most complete Honus Wagner collection. He also has an extensive Yankees collection, including multiple Mantle pieces.
Sherman Chan
The longest tenured team member at Resolution, Chan is a lifelong collector of Seattle sports memorabilia.
Benjamin Weingarten
A longtime collector of game-used bats and other vintage memorabilia, Weingarten is one of the hobby’s most prolific collectors and experts of Type 1 photographs. He co-published a book of some of his Type 1 photos with Fogel.
