Ohtani’s October Top 10: Shohei cards continue to soar after World Series heroics

The best player in baseball took his game to another level in the 2025 MLB postseason. Not surprisingly, Shohei Ohtani cards are soaring again after his historic October.

Whew! The legend of Shohei Ohtani continues to grow—in real time. Over the past few seasons, we thought we’d seen “Two-Way Shohei” do everything, from his titanic home runs to his blazing speed as a baserunner to his mound magic as a pitcher that makes him a baseball unicorn.

But then the 2025 postseason arrived and Ohtani did things no player has ever done. The obvious highlights include his six-inning, 10-K shutout (with three homers) against Milwaukee in the playoff game that put the Dodgers in the World Series and, of course, his 4-for-4 hitting line in Game 3 of the Fall Classic. In that epic 18-inning nail-biter, Ohtani reached base a record-tying nine times (including five walks) and clobbered two home runs. He finished the World Series with a .333 average.

Not surprisingly, Ohtani’s exploits have made him a king of the hill among collectors. And the 31-year-old has hardly topped out in the collectibles market, judging by the virtual feeding frenzy in September and October. In that two-month span, as MLB’s playoff picture was playing out, so too was the market for Ohtani memorabilia. To wit:

• In eBay auctions alone (excluding Buy It Now deals), we counted more than 50 Ohtani listings that sold for five-figure prices, ranging from $10,000-$35,000.

• If you add in Buy It Now deals, you’d see 100-plus additional five-figure sales.

• If you considered Ohtani items that auctioned for $5,000-$9,999, you’d be looking at 125 more items that changed hands—and 325 more that sold in Buy It Now deals.

All told, that’s more than 600 Ohtani items that fetched upwards of $5,000 on eBay over a nine-week span.

With that in mind, we give you our October Ohtani Top 10—big sums paid for Shohei gems in eBay auctions over the past month:
