Topps Continues Forward March in Digital Arena

Topps continues to bring in big names to move the needle in its digital operations, naming Steven Chiang to its board of directors.

Steven Chiang, a seasoned video and social gaming executive, was named to the board of directors for The Topps Co., it was announced by Michael D. Eisner, founder of The Tornante Co.

“Steven has incredible experience in the digital space and is responsible for some of the most successful sports and free-to-play games in the past two decades, and we are thrilled to have him on our Board of Directors. We look forward to tapping into his passion and expertise as we continue to invest in Topps’ digital division and drive for accelerated growth,” said Andy Redman, chairman of Topps.

Over the course of more than two decades, Chiang has held executive positions at some of the most prestigious gaming companies. Most recently he served as Executive Vice President of Games at leading social game developer Zynga, where he led free-play game development on iOS, Android and Facebook. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President at Electronic Arts overseeing global product development within the EA SPORTS label. Chiang co-founded Tiburon Entertainment, which was acquired by Electronic Arts in 1998 and holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University.

“Topps is one of the most iconic companies in the world and their sports trading cards were a mainstay from my childhood,” Chiang said. “I am excited to see Topps’ evolution into the digital space and honored to be joining their board and to have the opportunity to work with Topps’ dynamic leadership team.”

Topps recently named Jeremy Strauser as General Manager of Digital with the company.
