Cards of rising NBA stars Paolo Banchero, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander attract big dollars in Goldin auction

Paolo Banchero and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are two of the NBA’s top young stars. Their rookie trading cards just set records in Goldin’s February Elite Auction.

Paolo Banchero, the NBA’s 2022-23 Rookie of the Year, is having another outstanding season, averaging 22.9 points per game for the Orlando Magic.

Banchero is also coming off his first All-Star Game appearance.

His rise to stardom is also carrying over to the sports card market.

Banchero’s signed Logoman Patch Rookie card sold for a record-breaking $156,612 in Goldin’s February Elite Auction. The 2022-23 Panini National Treasures Rookie Patch Auto Logoman #110 card was graded PSA GEM MT 10.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, meanwhile, could be headed for his first NBA MVP award, averaging 31.1 points in his sixth season with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Gilgeous-Alexander’s 2018-19 Panini Prizm Black Prizm #184 Rookie Card also attracted a six-figure price, selling for $196,420.

Goldin’s February auction was highlighted by Kobe Bryant’s 2009 NBA Finals Game 3 jersey, which sold for $915,000, a record for the LA Lakers road jersey.
