A Michael Jordan rookie card and a 1952 Topps Willie Mays card highlighted the January Encore Auction at Robert Edward Auctions Sunday.
The auction, which totaled $1.1 million in sales, attracted 59,510 bids on more than 3,000 items, a record number of bids for an REA Encore auction.
“There’s a very strong outlook for the industry in 2023 and the same goes for REA,” REA President Brian Dwyer said. “The participation in this first event of the year was record-breaking for us, and bidders responded to the wide selection of material that has become the hallmark of these Encore auctions. This was a great start to the year and I’m already excited about what we have lined up for our future auctions, including our Spring Catalog Auction in April, which is already shaping up to be one of our biggest.”
A 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie card, graded PSA 9, sold for $17,400, while a 1952 Topps Willie Mays card, graded PSA 1.5 with a PSA 7 signature, went for $16,800.
