Michael Jordan cards have soared in value since 2020, and now the collection of cards of the NBA's greatest player has a new record holder.

A signed 2003-04 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Ultimate Logos Signature Jordan Game-Used Logoman Patch Card sold for more than $2.9 million in the Goldin 100 auction. The #1/1 card, which has a PSA Authentic grade with a PSA/DNA 10 autograph, attracted 38 bids, including an opening bid of $250,000 on April 19.

The previous record for a Jordan card was a 1997-98 Upper Deck Game-Used Jersey autograph card that Goldin reported selling for $2.7 million in 2021. The card featured an autograph and a swatch from Jordan’s 1992 All-Star Game jersey.

The new Jordan record-holder came from one of the most significant NBA card sets in hobby history. For years, the card had never surfaced and had never come up for public sale.

The card features Jordan in his Chicago Bulls uniform and a game-worn patch of the NBA logo from his uniform and his autograph in blue ink. The patch and image is from the height of Jordan’s NBA career, when he led the Bulls to six NBA championships.

The card is Jordan's very first signed Logoman patch card in a Bulls uniform. The previous year's Upper Deck release featured a trio of Jordan Logoman patch collectibles within the NBA Logo Mania Patch Autographs insert set, but those cards all featured Jordan in a Washington Wizards uniform. Jordan played for the Wizards when he retired following the 2002-03 season.

The whereabouts of the card were unknown for nearly 20 years until it was submitted to PSA in 2022.

“Michael Jordan remains one of the most iconic and recognizable athletes of all time,” said Ken Goldin, Founder and CEO of Goldin. “Jordan's greatness on the court has translated into making his cards some of the most desired collectibles in existence and this one-of-one Logoman may stand above the rest.”

The Goldin 100 auction features rare collectibles valued at $100,000 and above. Other top sellers in the auction include:

• Kobe Bryant signed, game-used Los Angeles Lakers home jersey photo-matched to the April 12, 2013 game when he tore his Achilles tendon in the fourth quarter for $1.2 million.

• Michael Jordan game-used, twice-signed 1985 Nike Air Jordan 1 sneakers from his “shattered backboard” game for $444,080.
