If you go by scouting reports, Gunnar Henderson is the next Cal Ripken Jr. — and then some.

The highly-touted, five-tool phenom — the No. 1 prospect in baseball, according to MLB.com — has fast-tracked his way through the Orioles’ farm system, moving from Single-A to AA to AAA ball to the big leagues in a scant two seasons.

After the preview he gave us with the Orioles in 2022 (.259 with four homers in 116 at-bats), the 6-foot-3, 220-pound lefty swinger appears ready to claim a regular spot in Baltimore’s infield.

Collectors are buying, too. Item of choice: Henderson’s 2019 autographed Bowman Chrome card, which comes in a variety of press runs and colors. Since the start of this year, we’ve seen eBay auctioneers sell more than a dozen of them at four-figure prices.
