Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle played together only briefly in 1951 before the two New York Yankee legends headed toward the Baseball Hall of Fame as two of the greatest center fielders of all time.

While Mantle emerged as one of the kings of the hobby thanks primarily to his iconic 1952 Topps card, DiMaggio collectibles also hold strong value.

The 1952 Topps Mantle and a game-used DiMaggio bat topped the Spring Auction at Huggins & Scott Auctions.

The1952 Topps #311 Mantle, graded PSA GOOD 2, sold for $46,800. Meanwhile, a 1941-42 DiMaggio game-used Yankees bat used during his historic 56-game hitting streak went for $32,400.

The auction also included World Series championship rings from the 2019 Washington Nationals and 1986 New York Mets consigned by the estate of former player and coach Mike Cubbage that sold for $12,600 and $9,300, respectively.

“It’s very exciting when an event generates such strong results across so many different areas of the hobby,” Huggins & Scott Vice President & Director of Consignments Ron Oser said. “While we had some great results on modern and vintage cards, our bidders also showed a really strong appetite for many of the rare coins, comics and memorabilia items that we had available in this event and we’re thrilled about the overall interest and participation.”

Some of the other notable results included:

• 19th-century catcher's mask (Thayer model) and Wright & Ditson chest protector $22,200.

• Signed circa 1950 Jackie Robinson original Barney Stein news photograph (PSA/DNA Type I) used for Robinson's 1950 Bowman Card $21,000.
