On June 16, New York Yankees Captain Derek Jeter will make a “live” appearance at UpperDeckU, fielding questions from kids across the country who are members of Upper Deck’s online virtual community.

Jeter will be represented in the UpperDeckU.com virtual world with his own custom-built avatar. He’ll answer questions online from 2-3 p.m. (EDT) with the help of Upper Deck’s associate marketing manager Carrie Peterson.

“To say I’m nervous would be an understatement,” said Peterson. “But I know it will be a great session. I’m excited about meeting Derek, but I’m even more excited to see what kinds of questions the kids will be asking him.”

To meet Jeter live online, kids have to be an UpperDeckU “Insider.” To do so, they can log onto www.UpperDeckU.com and enter codes found inside various Upper Deck sports card wrappers. Or they can simply buy baseball virtual packs available on the UpperDeckU.com home page to gain “Insider Access.” Once a kid is deemed an Insider, he or she can go to the UpperDeckU Hobby Store and click on the virtual store owner to buy a ticket to the event.

Jeter will talk to as many as 100 kids at a time during five different sessions inside of the hour-long block. He will also virtually autograph an event-exclusive digital card immediately following the event that will be available only to kids who participate. Space is limited, so kids are encouraged to sign up early.
