Jordan, LeBron, Kobe card sets record in PWCC auction

First there was Bird, Magic and Dr. J setting records for their 1980-81 Topps rookie card featuring all three NBA legends.

A Topps Scoring Leaders card featuring Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Julius Erving, graded PSA 10, sold for a record $861,000 last year at Goldin Auctions.

The modern-day version of that card features three more basketball immortals: Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. And it is also setting records.

A 2008 Upper Deck Radiance Triple Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant Auto card, numbered /5 and graded BGS 8.5, sold for a record $216,000 in the March Premier Auction at PWCC Marketplace.

The card from the 2008 Upper Deck Radiance Auto Focus Triple sub-set features hard-signed autographs from all three stars and is one of the few cards to feature the two Hall of Famers and the NBA’s top current star.

The Jordan/LeBron/Kobe card is one of the several basketball cards to net record sales in PWCC’s March Premier Auction, which featured 288 cards across multiple sports and attracted more than $16.1 million in total sales.

• A 2018 Panini Prizm Signatures Black Prizm Trae Young Rookie Auto 1/1 graded a BGS 9.5 for $276,000, the third highest-selling Young card of all time.

The auction also featured a record-setting football card that topped six figures for the first time. A 1986 Topps Football Steve Young rookie card sold for $120,000, a record for a Steve Young card and a 240 percent increase over his previous record of $35,302. The rare card is one of only 10 graded PSA 10 due to its unique design and placement on Topps production sheets.
