Taking the league by storm in 2017 was Trey Mancini, a 25-year-old rookie outfielder/first baseman for the Baltimore Orioles.

In 147 games for the 2017 Birds, Trey hit .293 with 24 homers and 78 RBI. After another 24-homer campaign in 2018, the righty-swinging slugger blew up in 2019 when he batted .291 with 35 long balls and 97 RBI.

Now a bona fide star, the sky was the limit in 2020, until the unthinkable happened.

Artist Ronnie Joyner tells the story in this bio-illustration.

Note: On Nov. 1, 2020, two months after completing cancer treatment, Trey Mancini was moved from the Injured List to the Orioles’ 40-man roster for the first time since starting treatment in March. He is now cancer free and looking forward to the 2021 season.
