Topps set to release new MLB NFT Collection
With new MLB stars emerging every day, Topps is set to launch its next foray into digital baseball cards.
Topps announced Thursday the 2021 Topps MLB Inception NFT Collection, a new baseball card inspired release in conjunction with Major League Baseball and MLB Players Inc. on ToppsNFTs.com.
Based on the popular Topps Inception Baseball physical product, the 2021 Topps MLB Inception NFT Collection offers digital collectibles that feature iconic Topps card designs, motion animations, facsimile signatures and digital relic content that showcases MLB rookies, emerging stars, veteran mainstays and more.
“This Topps NFT product comes at a time when so many talented young players are emerging in baseball and provides collectors with a new way to connect with them as their careers take shape,” said Evan Kaplan, Managing Director of MLB Players, Inc. “This is an opportunity for fans to own a piece of collectible baseball history.”
The 2021 Topps MLB Inception NFT Collection release will take place on the recently launched ToppsNFTs.com. Powered by Avalanche, Topps says the new “fast, low-cost, and eco-friendly” public blockchain is easy to use and removes the need for special wallets or token apps, providing a single location to buy, sell and explore Topps NFT collections.
“Our vision is to create a fun, easy-to-use collecting experience on the Blockchain that appeals to all fans whether they have experience with NFTs or not. It’s an extension of the vision we’ve had for digital collectibles in our mobile apps since 2012,” said Tobin Lent, VP & Global General Manager of Topps Digital Sports & Entertainment at The Topps Company. “The release of the 2021 Topps MLB Inception NFT Collection celebrates promising young talent and notable rising stars already making a name for themselves in professional baseball, and symbolizes the continued growth of this new era of Topps digital collecting.”
Standard and Premium Packs will be available for purchase on Thursday, Sept. 9th at 1 p.m. ET on ToppsNFTs.com, with card rarities ranging from Common to Legendary. It is the second Topps MLB NFT product to hit the market this year and the first on ToppsNFTs.com.
