Galarragas nearly perfect game captured in time by Mounted Memories
Mounted Memories, the sports memorabilia manufacturing division of Dreams, Inc., announced that it has signed an exclusive deal with Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga, to commemorate his nearly perfect game on June 2, 2010. Galarraga’s place in history as the 21st pitcher to throw a perfect game was denied and became a pivotal moment in baseball when the 27th batter was called safe at first on a slow roller to the infield. Video replay – and subsequently, the first base umpire – concluded that the runner was indeed out. Galarraga returned to the mound to record the final out of the game with the next batter.
“Armando is a terrific person, and June 2, 2010 displayed two extraordinary performances – his pitching and his poise. We are thrilled to work with Mounted Memories to celebrate this unprecedented event.”
What followed this incredible pitching performance was equally remarkable as Galarraga’s poise under pressure made him a hero. To commemorate this accomplishment of both athletic skill and personal triumph, Mounted Memories is creating special collectibles with Galarraga’s signature on baseballs, photos and unique framed merchandise with items from the game.
“This truly unusual game – and the grace of all the people involved that ensued – marks a unique moment for ardent baseball fans and casual enthusiasts alike. Mounted Memories is designing several products that capture an occasion that will likely never be repeated,” said Mitch Adelstein, company president. “We are pleased to once again provide fans with an opportunity to ‘own’ historic moments and magical memories.”
Galarraga will sign baseballs and photos with the date of the game as well as the phrase “Almost Perfect” as well as “Nobody’s Perfect” – a reference to his acceptance of the error regarding the inaccurate call at first. In addition, the deal with Mounted Memories includes a personal appearance by Galarraga, with the date and venue still to be determined.
According to Jeff Feinstein from SFX Baseball, Galarraga’s agent, this is a great opportunity to offer Tigers fans and all sports fans a way to remember an event that grabbed national attention in a wonderful way. “Armando is a terrific person, and June 2, 2010 displayed two extraordinary performances – his pitching and his poise. We are thrilled to work with Mounted Memories to celebrate this unprecedented event.”
