When actor Miles Teller was a kid, his grandmother used to give him an eight-box set of baseball cards every Christmas.

The annual gift got Teller started collecting baseball cards.

“I’ve been a baseball fan my entire life,” said one of the stars of “Top Gun: Maverick.”

Teller and former MLB all-star Chase Utley recently helped eBay promote its new eBay Vault by participating in “Vault Stars,” the company’s first-ever trading card draft celebrating MLB All-Star weekend.

The July 15 event at the Hudson Lofts in downtown Los Angeles featured Teller, with an assist from Utley, selecting and purchasing his ultimate card lineup to send to the eBay vault. His selections included five rare rookie cards with an estimated total value of $23,813.95.

Teller’s Vault Stars Collection includes:

“Having Chase, who I’ve been a fan of since he played for the Phillies, guide me through picking my Vault Stars lineup was exciting,” Teller said in a release from eBay. “And with eBay’s new vault, I know my cards will be safe and secure. It’s a gamechanger for me as a trading card collector.”

“As a player in the league, I’ve seen first-hand how an athlete’s performance on the field translates to their trading card values off the field,” said Utley, a six-time All-Star for the Phillies and World Series champion with the Dodgers. “This experience is what made me perfectly suited to coach Miles draft of his Vault Stars Collection to be sent to the eBay vault. The eBay vault is the future. It provides card collectors a more seamless way to buy, sell, trade and store trading cards than ever before.”

The eBay vault is a 31,000-square-foot, 24/7 secured facility and digital marketplace for trading card collectors that streamlines the buying and selling process. Single, graded cards valued at $500 and above are currently eligible for the eBay vault.

Collectors can shop for eligible cards at eBay.com/SendItToTheVault and learn more about the service at www.ebay.com/vault
