Rub Elbows with Hall of Famers at Fantasy Camp
Now here's a fantasy for a lot of sports fans - playing ball with Hall of Famers.
The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum announced that the 2009 Hall of Fame Fantasy Camp will be held Oct. 13-18. The six-day camp, will feature Hall of Fame members George Brett, Eddie Murray, Phil Niekro and Brooks Robinson along with former Major League players Jamie Quirk, Rich Murray, Lance Niekro, Paul Blair, Jon Warden and Dave Bergman.
Campers will play three games at historic Doubleday Field in Cooperstown while wearing custom Hall of Fame uniforms, stay at the luxurious Otesaga Resort Hotel, enjoy a behind-the-scenes archives and collections tour of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, play golf on picturesque Leatherstocking Golf Course and experience the clubhouse camaraderie of a Major League team. Campers, who will receive professional playing tips from the Hall of Famers before and during the games, will also be honored at a private candlelight dinner in the Museum’s Plaque Gallery and watch 2009 Major League Baseball playoff games with the Hall of Famers and coaches.
The roster spot includes a one-year Benefactor membership to the Hall of Fame, which offers participants exclusive Hall of Fame Weekend privileges such as four reserved seating tickets to the Induction Ceremony and an invitation to the annual Benefactor’s Breakfast with a Hall of Famer.
To participate, campers need only a love for the game. No special skills are required. The camp is open to men and women over 30 years old.
Cost of the Hall of Fame Fantasy Camp is $8,495 for new campers, $7,995 for campers who participated in 2008. Family fan packages are also available. Only 48 spots are available. For more information, call (607) 547-0369 or visit www.baseballhall.org.
