For the first time in the Las Vegas auction house's history, American Memorabilia will help satisfy memorabilia fanatics' needs with its Super Bowl sale that will end on Feb. 8.

With a strong emphasis on relics from the gridiron, AMI will also offer many items from all major sports and entertainment. AMI acquisitions representative Tony Giese said he is looking forward to the auction that started bidding on Jan. 10. Also, to promote the auction, Giese said AMI will be taking part in the NFL Experience in Miami.

"We are very ecstatic to be showcasing some of our featured items at the Super Bowl," Giese said. "This is our first Super Bowl auction and it will give us a great chance to gain new bidders and consignors."

Those potential new bidders will have a chance to purchase some of AMI's impressive array of game-used jerseys including a 1950's Lou Groza Browns jersey with provenance (including its original envelope with return address from Groza's wife), 1968-72 Don Maynard Durene Jets Jersey, 1966-68 Dick Butkus Durene Bears jersey, 2006 Brian Urlacher Bears Throwback jersey, late 1960's Gale Sayers Bears jersey, Tony Dorsett University of Pittsburgh jersey, 2003 Reggie Bush USC jersey, 2004 Peyton Manning Colts jersey, 2005 LaDainian Tomlinson Throwback Chargers jersey, 1991 Barry Sanders Lions jersey and a 2006 Terrell Owens unwashed Cowboys jersey.

According to Giese, the Owens unwashed shirt is an example of what AMI is focusing on in its authentication efforts.

"We are stressing legitimate game use on all of our jerseys," said Giese. "We go the extra step in ensuring quality game use on all our jerseys, such as in our unwashed shirts."

AMI also is offering a nice selection of autographed items including a Lou Gehrig single-signed ball graded PSA 8, Jimmie Foxx single-signed ball graded PSA 9, Walter Johnson single-signed ball, Babe Ruth single-signed ball, Tris Speaker single-signed ball, 1939 Baseball Centennial program signed by Babe Ruth, Pistol Pete Maravich signed NCAA basketball, Miami Dolphins first win football and a Vince Lombardi single-signed "The Duke" football.

Other key sports pieces offered include a 1995-96 Derek Jeter game-used rookie-era bat, 1952 Mickey Mantle Topps card graded PSA 5, Bart Starr Super Bowl II salesman's sample ring, 1986-88 Howie Long game-worn Raiders jersey, 1972 Thurman Munson game-used bat, 1983-84 Steve Yzerman game-used hockey stick and a 2006 Cedric Benson game-worn unwashed Bears jersey.

Rounding out the auction are featured entertainment items such as a pocket disc of the Beatles' "Hey Jude" "Revolution," original 1964 "Songs, Pictures and Stories of The Fabulous Beatles" VJ LP, two John Lennon books - "In His Own Write" and "A Spaniard in the Works," Rolling Stones "Some Girls" large store display and original pair of Winklepicker Beatles Boots (purchased in Liverpool in 1962).
