Cards from the 19th century and early 20th century are plentiful in the current 19thCenturyOnly.com auction. The auction features 100 lots of vintage items, mainly cards. Items from 1900-19 comprise 59 lots of the auction.
Leading the way in the auction is a 1910 E90-2 American Caramel Honus Wagner card graded GAI 3. This card is thought to be one of the most sought-after of all Wagner cards next to the T206 example.
Four cards from the late 1800s are also bound to attract plenty of interest. These cards include: an 1887 N172 Old Judge Buck Ewing & Mascot (NY's) graded PSA 5; an 1888 N333 S.F. Hess Newsboy's League Smith graded PSA 4; an 1887 N172 Old Judge King Kelly (Boston, bat at 45 degrees "$10,000 Kelly") graded SGC 10; and an 1887 N172 Old Judge William Klusman (Denvers) graded SGC 92.
Other highlighted items include: 1910 E98 "Set of 30" graded collection including Nap Lajoie; a 1910-11 M116 Sporting Life Honus Wagner (Blue) card graded SGC 10; a 1909-11 LENOX Ty Cobb (portrait, red background) card graded GAI 1; and a 1914 T213 Type 2 Coupon Ty Cobb (Bat off Shoulder) card graded GAI 3.
Highlighted items from the 19th century include: an 1885 Brooklyn Base Ball Club portrait scorecard of Swartwood; an 1885 Brooklyn Base Ball Club portrait scorecard of Krieg; an 1887 N172 Old Judge Stephen Toole (Rochesters) card graded SGC 86; an 1887 N172 Old Judge Count Weber (Sioux City) card graded PSA 4; an 1887 N172 Old Judge Kid Madden (Boston NL Portrait) card graded SGC 50; and an 1888 N154 Duke & Sons Grover Cleveland (throwing) card graded SGC 20.
Highlighted items from 1900-19 include: a 1908 E102 "Set of 25" Joe Tinker card graded GAI 2.5; a 1908 E102 Nap Lajoie card graded SGC 30; 1908-09 Sherry Magee variation trio of cards (E92 Dockman, E92 Nadja, E102 "Set of 25"); a 1909 E101 Topsy Hartsel card graded SGC 80; a 1909 E91-B American Caramel Eddie Plank card graded PSA 3; a 1909 E92 Croft's Candy Casey (blue back) card graded SGC 40; and a 1909 E92 Croft's Cocoa Sam Crawford card graded PSA 3.
Highlighted items from 1920-49 include: 1921-30 ML Die-Cut collection of 19, including seven GAI graded with Rogers Hornsby and George Sisler; a 1928 R315 PSA 5 and 1934-36 Batter-Up GAI 4.5 Rogers Hornsby collection; a 1940 Play Ball "Ol Pete" Alexander collection of four graded cards; and a 1948 Swell Babe Ruth GAI 4.
