The first of American Memorabilia’s double-header of auctions closed on Sept. 29 with a top-notch array of T205 Gold Border PSA-graded singles along with a bunch of Dominique Wilkins one-of-a-kind items. More items from the Wilkins personal collection were also available in AMI’s World Series auction, which closed Oct. 20.

“We were thrilled with the results,” said Chris Nerat, AMI’s director of acquisitions. “The T205 collection created a ton of traffic to our site, produced a lot of bids and resulted in very high prices.

“We had more than 12,000 bids for a 1,500-lot auction. I think the Dominique items brought a lot of people into this auction. It’s not often that you see those type of rare items from a superstar athlete in one place at one time. We had everything from his All-Star rings to his All-Star Game jersey to his 1988-89 All-NBA trophy in this auction, and there’s more in the Oct. 20 auction.”

Some of the leading items included: a Pete Maravich signed game-used basketball and stub ($25,471); 1996-97 Cal Ripken Jr. game-worn glove ($23,155); 1966 Mickey Mantle game-used bat graded PSA 7 ($20,283); Fred Biletnikoff Super Bowl XI Vince Lombardi Trophy, with a signed letter from Biletnikoff ($16,762); Wilkins’ 1985 Slam Dunk Trophy, with a letter from Wilkins ($16,762); 1967 Cardinals World Series ring presented to McCrum with original box (14,358); and a rookie era Kareem Abdul-Jabbar game-worn practice warm-up Bucks jacket ($13,876); and a Willie Mays game-used, signed bat graded PSA 6.5 ($8,926).
