After a solid debut auction, Historic Auctions has brought together a collection of high-end items for its second event, which is running live on its website at through June 22.

This auction features a full-color catalog featuring every lot. The auction's headliner will feature Babe Ruth's famous 1932 "Called Shot" game-used pants. Joe White, VP of Historic Auctions and formerly of Beckett Media and game-used buyer for Donruss, said this auction will be different from most other sports memorabilia auctions.

"You never see many of our lots ever hit the open market," he said. "When our customers receive their winning items, they will know what I mean. The rarity and use are unmatched. Many of our items came directly from the athletes themselves."

The Ruth game-used pants are particularly impressive, he said.
"Everyone needs to take notice of these Ruth pants," he said. "I have not see a finer, more used item auctioned off in the last decade. They actually have his blood in the waist line."

The auction also includes Joe DiMaggio's game-used pants from the 1937 season, a Roberto Clemente game-used batting helmet, a pair of Jackie Robinson game-used pants, a Mickey Mantle game-used bat and a Joe DiMaggio game-used bat.

The auction also contains some extraordinary football items, including a 1970 Joe Namath game-used jersey.

"The catalog is filled with themes, including the Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, great running backs, the Super Bowl, Heisman hopefuls, and the Patriots," White said. "There is something for everyone, from a Ruth single-singed baseball down to a pair of batting gloves. This may be the largest collection of current-day baseball and football game-used jerseys to hit the industry. We're excited, and we hope everyone can participate in the fun."

White said the June 22 auction will provide an easier way of bidding with never-before-seen technology on the website and prompt customer service.
