If you are a collector in this hobby, now truly is the most wonderful time of the year. At no other time of the year do you have access to some of the most coveted pieces of sports memorbilia. All you need is a phone or a computer and you can significantly add to your collection.

One stop you will definitely want to make on your shopping trip is at Memory Lane Inc. The Tustin, Calif., company has served up another healthy lineup of goodies, from rare, high-grade singles to scarce autographs and ravishing rings.
The auction kicks off with a pair of lots that collectors no doubt are familiar with, although few ever actually own them. The first is a T206 Sweet Caporal Eddie Plank, graded PSA 5. The second is a Ty Cobb Cut Plug original tobacco tin that was found in a house remodling project – the next best thing to finding money in the walls, right?

Another example of the now-popular 1869 Peck & Synder Red Stocking Baseball Club of Cincinnati small card is available in this sale, graded PSA Authentic.

One of true gems in the auction is a Nat Fein autographed photo of his famous print of “The Babe Bows Out.” This 93/4-by71/4-inch photo was personally developed by Fein and comes from his estate.

And speaking of some coveted autographs, this auction will also features a Babe Ruth single-signed baseball, Bruce Smith (1941 Heisman Trophy winner) hand-written letter, Mel Ott signed photo, Ted Williams signed Navy wire photo and a Nike Kinnick signed note card and envelope.

When it comes to memorabilia, some of the highlights include a Roger Maris game-used professional model bat, a 1973 Nestor Chylak All-Star ring and Mickey Mantle’s career home run ring.

Playing cards
While all of the other items above would make for a great auction by themselves, the heart of the auction is once again with the cards themselves, most notably the high-grade baseball cards being offered.

Among the top attractions are 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle SGC 8, W600 Sporting Life Cabinets Honus Wagner PSA 4, 1950-51 Toleteroes Josh Gibson PSA 4, 1916 M101-5 Sporting News Jim Thorpe PSA 8(OC), 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth No. 53 PSA 6, 1934 Goudey Lou Gehrig No. 37 PSA 7, 1953 Topps Mantle PSA 8, 1911-14 Brunner’s Bread D304 Cy Young SGC 6, T205 Gold Border Hoblitzell PSA 5 and 1915 Cracker Jack Fred Clarke PSA 8.
