Big-Time Yankee Collector's Items at SCP Auctions, Including Gehrig Rookie Bat

Personal baseball collection of New York Yankees’ enthusiast E. Lisk Wyckoff Jr. headlines SCP Auctions’ 2015 Fall Premier.

The late E. Lisk Wyckoff Jr. was a serious collector of baseball memorabilia, more specifically N.Y. Yankees memorabilia. A lifelong fan of the sport, he had a special fascination with perfect games and went to great lengths to acquire symbolic keepsakes of one of baseball’s most elusive feats. According to his widow, Elizabeth, “Baseball was his international language. That was his way of relating to anyone, from the guy flipping burgers to the maître d’ at the finest restaurant in New York City.”

A trust-and-estate lawyer by trade, Wyckoff was born in 1934 and passed away in 2012. All along the way, he was perusing, collecting and preserving sports memorabilia, never losing sight of his beloved Yankees. Beyond gathering Bronx Bombers’ paintings and illustrations from the likes of renowned sports artists LeRoy Neiman and Stephen Holland, Wyckoff made it a priority to complete a run of Yankees World Series Championship team-signed baseballs.
