Ball signed by Foxx, others brings $13,650 in Coac

A baseball signed by 13 baseball superstars topped all items in the
 October Coach's Corner Sports and Celebrity auction, ringing up a sale price of $13,650.

 Babe Ruth items were also in high demand in the 3,705-lot auction with a Ruth-Ted Williams signed glove going for the second highest price, bringing $10,000.

The top-selling ball, an Official League MacGregor model, was considered in excellent shape and carries the signatures of Jimmie Foxx (on the sweet spot), Roger Maris, Casey Stengel, Ted Williams, Satchel Paige, Lefty Grove, Pie Traynor, Mickey Mantle, Lloyd Waner, Stan Musial, Jackie Robinson, Ford Frick and Ty Cobb. The signatures were in a mixture of blue and black ink.

The second-highest selling item was a 1940s Wilson store model Ted Williams fielder's mitt that was signed on the inside by Williams and Babe Ruth. The signatures rated a 7.5 on the glove that showed moderate wear.
Other Ruth items were big sellers as well with a vintage unbranded red-laced ball bringing $3,253; a personalized Ruth-signed ball, "To the boys of the Mexican Club" brought $3,216; a Ruth-signed vintage Louisville Slugger bat sold for $2,605; a 1933 Canadian Goudey Ruth card (No. 80) graded NM/MT 8.5 sold for $2,578; and an Official Reach American League (Harridge) ball sold for $2,363.

Two Lou Gehrig items were among the top 15 sellers with a dark-brown vintage bat that he signed on the barrel went for $2,468; and a signed, unbranded baseball selling for $1,531.

An unbranded vintage red-laced ball signed by President Herbert Hoover sold for $2,315, while a rare cut signed "Your humble servant, Benjamin Franklin" cut sold for $1,501.

Other top-selling items included an "Introducing the Beatles" VeeJay signed album that went for $1,852, a George Sisler signed Spalding Official Little League ball that brought $1,596, a Roger Maris signed Official American League ball that went for $1,500 and a Rogers Hornsby signed Wilson Regulation League ball that brought $1,448.
