A red-laced Andia baseball signed by Hall of Famer Cap Anson on the sweet spot is the No. 1 item in the final 2005 Coach’s Corner Sports & Celebrity Auction set for this year.

The auction week will run from Dec. 5-9 with online and fax bidding currently available. There will be more than 3,000 items in the auction.

Coach’s Corner president Scott Malack said the ball, signed “A. C. Anson,” is authenticated by Chris Morales and is valued at $25,000.

Other items include a Mark McGwire game-used St. Louis Cardinals cap worn during the record-setting 1998 season, a Roberto Clemente red-laced Spalding baseball, a signed Ty Cobb Sonnet Little League ball and a signed “All Purpose Practice ball” bearing a Mel Ott signature.

Gamblers might be tempted to take a run at a 1901 Sweet Caporal cigarette pack that likely contains a trading card and a similar Piedmont pack from 1909-11 that could contain a baseball card. The Piedmont pack has been sealed by Global and is unopened. And then there are two Mayo Cut Plug tobacco packs that may hold a T205 card or two. The offering includes a display and the original metal case.

Signed equipment includes a Ted Williams Rawlings Pro Model bat, a Ted Williams signed Adirondack bat with “The Kid .406” added beneath his signature, a Wilt Chamberlain/Bill Russell Spalding NBA basketball, a Jimmie Foxx signed Hank Thompson Denkert glove, a signed Master’s flag with 13 star golfers on it, a Bonds-McGwire-Sosa signed Pro Model Rawlings bat, a 500 Home Run Club signed bat, a Dream Team I signed basketball, and two signed Yankee caps by Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez.
