A signed album page including the signatures of 11 Hall of Famers, dating back to the late-1930s, was the top-selling item among 3,645 offered in the first of two March Coach's Corner Sports and Celebrity Auction, which ended March 3.
The 5-by-7-inch page, which sold for $5,325, includes the black ink signatures of Connie Mack, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Eddie Collins, Cy Young, Larry Lajoie, Tris Speaker, George Sisler, Walter Johnson, Babe Ruth and Grover Cleveland Alexander.
The second-highest selling price of $4,725 was paid for a Babe Ruth-Lou Gehrig red-and-black-laced practice ball with Ruth on the sweet spot and Gehrig on a side panel. The signatures graded an 8.
A Ty Cobb Official American League Joe Cronin baseball, which was signed "Tyrus R. Cobb," sold for $3,675. The ball graded at 7.5.
Meanwhile, a Joe Tinker signed baseball sold for $3,596. The ball is signed on the sweet spot in black ink.
Among another large list of notable sales were $3,032 paid for an Eddie Collins signed Rawlings baseball, $2,894 paid for a Marie Antoinette signed document from 1774, $2,464 for a Mickey Welch signed game-used ball, $2,112 for a W. A. Hulbert signed 3-by-5 card, $2,011 for a Tony Lazzeri signed red-and-black-stitched ball and $1,737 for a Roger Bresnahan off-sized, smaller baseball.
Among the other items were $1,745 for a Walter Johnson singed DeBeer and Son "Energized" baseball, $1,621 for a Tris Speaker signed early 1950s baseball, $1,600 for a Ty Cobb signed R&N "Energized" baseball, $1,500 for a Mark McGwire game-worn Cardinals home white jersey, $1,448 for a Mickey Mantle-signed Russell Yankees jersey, $1,389 for a Marilyn Monroe signed album page complete with red lip prints, $1,163 for a Martin Dihigo signed baseball, $1,158 for a Roger Maris signed Official NL Feeney baseball and $1,000 for a Jimmie Foxx signed DeBeer baseball.
