Sports Collectors Digest is the hobby's oldest and largest publication, covering every aspect of modern sports collecting including cards, memorabilia, autographed material and more.

SCD is published monthly with a special double issue published bimonthly. It includes feature stories, news items and regular columns. Articles are of general interest to collectors, dealers and others actively involved in the sports collecting hobby.

Sports Collectors Digest Writer's Guidelines

Want to write for SCD? Please read the guidelines below.

Editorial Submissions

Unsolicited manuscripts are welcome but not guaranteed to be published. Those who want to share their collections can do so in the reader-generated Collectors Corner that range up to 600 words. For feature stories, it's best to pitch ideas ahead of time with samples of the author’s previously published writing.

Queries are accepted via email at jowens@aimmedia.com

What are we looking for?

• Profiles. These 600 to 1,000-word profiles could feature interesting stories about “super” collectors, enterprising dealers, industry types, fledgling businesses or other personalities in the hobby. They should be creatively written in story form, rather than question and answer format.

• Feature stories. Subject matter should focus on the sports collectibles in some form or athletes whose collectibles are sought. Examples include museums, player features, card set memories, collecting stories, etc.

• Event coverage. SCD regularly covers news of events such as shows and auctions. These features should include highlights of the events (special guests, prices realized, major announcements) and high-quality photos with identification information.

Rights and Payment

Active Interest Media purchases perpetual but non-exclusive rights to manuscripts, meaning that after our initial publication, the author is free to sell the work elsewhere, but Active Interest Media retains the right to republish the material (online or in other company publications).
